Mazda put everything they know about driving into the new 2012 Mazda SKYACTIV® Technology for ultimate fuel economy and performance. The final product is like nothing offered before. The new Mazda SKYACTIV® Technology takes on the goal of reducing fuel consumption and emissions without compromising driving performance. Mazda started with a clean sheet of paper and engineered every single component of the automobile to work together in harmony.
Engine
The SKYACTIV®-G gasoline engine is a 2.0-liter marvel that produces 10-15% more low to mid-range torque, along with 15% lower fuel consumption and emissions than Mazda’s previous 2.0-liter engine.
Transmission
The SKYACTIV®-MT Six-Speed Manual Transmission was created from scratch, and was no easy task! Mazda engineers went to great lengths to push an already fuel-efficient transmission to the next level. They succeeded, and the new transmission has a shortened internal shift throw and is smaller, making the car lighter.
Platform
Mazda was determined to give the SKYACTIV® Body and Chassis the exhilarating driving feel of a Mazda while increasing crash safety performance and reducing weight. Engineers were able to improve body rigidity by 30% for better handling and shed 220 pounds, even with improved crash safety performance.
Incredible driving with incredible fuel economy is no longer a dream…it’s a Mazda.
