Tony La Russa Speaks In Wichita To Support Shocker Baseball!

Annual WSU First Pitch banquet

Shocker Baseball is in the air! The team is getting ready for another great season, which also means it’s time for the annual Shocker Baseball First Pitch Banquet. Each year Shocker baseball fans from Wichita and beyond gather together to reminisce on past seasons, look forward to a new season and provide support for the players. This year, the event will be held on Friday, February 24 at Koch Arena. The reception begins at 6:30, followed by dinner at 7:30. Each year the First Pitch Banquet features a guest speaker; past events have featured Tommy LaSorda, Jim Hendry, Darren Dreifort and the 1989 College World Series Champions! This year is no different, former Major League Baseball Manager Tony La Russa will be the guest speaker.

Tony La Russa led teams to six league championships and three World Series titles in his 33 seasons. His victories – 2,728 of them! – rank as the third all time in major league history. After leading the St. Louis Cardinals to the World Series Championship in 2011 he retired and we are thrilled to welcome him to Wichita to support the great Shocker Baseball Program. Don’t miss your opportunity to hear from this living legend of Major League Baseball!

Tickets for the Shocker First Pitch Banquet will sell out! Seating is limited for this once a year event. You can reserve your seat by calling 316-978-3636, tickets are $50 each or you can reserve a table of 10 for $500. All proceeds benefit the Baseball Battery Fund at WSU and Shocker Baseball. Sport your black and gold and join WSU for and unforgettable evening with Tony La Russa and the players of Shocker Baseball.
