    Dear Friends,

When I was asked to be a candidate for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s 2009 Man of the Year, I immediately said yes. Not only do I consider it an honor to be chosen, it also gives me a chance to combine my love of children with a series of events that will benefit an organization I’ve supported for many years - raising both funds and awareness.

    Did you know?

    • Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma is the 6th most common cancer in the US.
    • Every 5 minutes someone new is diagnosed with a blood cancer.
    • An estimated 894,543 Americans are currently living with leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma.

What is the Man/Woman of the Year campaign?
The funds raised during the Man/Woman of the Year campaign are used for ongoing research for treatments and cures for blood-related cancers. The money raised will also provide financial assistance for families affected by these cancers.
Each year, the campaign honors 2 children who are currently battling some type of blood cancer. This year’s honorees are Reese Naylor (5) and Braeden Gilbert (6). Both are fighting Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. [...] Reese, Braeden and many other patients like them, benefit directly from every dollar raised during this campaign.

    • $150 will fund one society researcher for one day.
    • $250 will pay for 2 weeks worth of medicine out of a 130 week treatment.
    • $500 pays for 1 patient’s financial aid through LLS for a year.
    • $750 will test ten people as potential bone marrow donors.
    • $1000 provides 10 children with a one month supply of medication.

    I’d like your help.
As I mentioned, I’m a long-time Leukemia/Lymphoma Society supporter. I have participated in the Disney Marathon, Tour De Tucson, and supported the Man/Women event in previous years. This year, I’m competing for the title of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year. This campaign is judged solely on a philanthropic basis. Every dollar raised is a vote for me and brings us one step closer to finding a cure for blood related cancers. I would love your support in this endeavor. You can send a simple one-time tax-deductible donation. Please make checks payable to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and mail to:
Davis-Moore Auto Group, Attn: Dawson Grimsley, PO Box 780047, Wichita, KS 67278-0047.
You can also visit my website and make a contribution at http://kan.llsevent.org/dgrimsley
On behalf of Reese and Braeden, and everyone whose lives are affected by leukemia and lymphoma, your generosity and support are very much appreciated.
